URGENT HIRING IN AUSTRALIA 2022
If you’re looking for a job in Australia, you should know that there’s an immediate need for qualified workers in several industries. This country has a growing population and there’s a huge demand for skilled workers in many fields. Some jobs have a relatively low unemployment rate and others are at high demand.
Occupational ceilings in Australia
The Occupational Ceilings for Australia are the rules for limiting the number of visa places available in different occupations. The current ceilings are valid from July 2017 to June 2022. They are not applicable to the Employer-sponsored visa, the State-nominated visa and the Family Visa.
These ceilings are set by the Australian government to ensure that skilled migrants are not overrepresented in any particular group. They are based on stock employment figures published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. They do not apply to the State and Territory Nominated or Business Innovation and Investment visas.
Demand for skilled workers in a variety of industries
Australia’s workforce needs a range of skills to remain competitive, and the list of skills required in the future includes those for a number of industries. The demand for workers in particular specialisations is likely to vary from one state to another. Engineers, such as mechanical, electrical, and electronics engineers, remain in high demand. Agricultural workers and temporary farm labourers are also needed.
The Australian labour market is tight, resulting in widespread skill shortages. Furthermore, real wages have not increased significantly in more than a decade. In addition, COVID-19 and its continuing impact, rising interest rates, and disrupted supply chains have compounded the problem. Despite these challenges, the Australian government is planning to hire more migrants to fill these positions.
Vacant white-collar jobs in Australia
Despite a slowdown in the Australian economy, there will still be plenty of opportunity for those seeking white-collar jobs. According to the latest forecasts, Australia is expected to have more than 211,200 white-collar jobs in 2022-23. In fact, white-collar employment will grow on average by 1.6% a year between 2022 and 2032, faster than the nation’s overall job growth. During this time period, the fastest-growing white-collar sector will be recreation services, expected to add 67,500 new workers.
This growth is being driven by a tight labour market. According to SEEK, job vacancies reached new record highs in February. The number of vacancies rose in four of Australia’s five industry sectors, including construction, industrial, and the public sector.
Job vacancies decreased in some industries
There is a trend in Australia where job vacancies are decreasing in some industries and increasing in others. In the second quarter of 2022, job vacancies decreased in some industries while rising in others. Construction, education, and training saw a decline in vacancies while transport, postal, and warehousing experienced growth. Overall, the number of vacancies declined by three per cent in 2022.
Despite the decline in employment in some industries, the number of vacancies is still extremely high. According to the quarterly Job Vacancies Survey, there were 107.4 vacancies in August 2022 compared to February 2020, which suggests that many industries are having difficulties filling their positions. This is due to a shortage of labour and ongoing disruptions to operations. The household goods and services sectors continue to be among the most affected by a shortage of workers.
Increased demand for nurses
The Australian health system is faced with a nursing shortage and it’s expected to worsen over the next 20 years. The population is also getting older, so nursing recruitment is becoming a serious headache. With the growing demand, it’s important to ensure there are enough nurses to meet the needs of the population.
The nursing profession is dominated by women, but that doesn’t mean that there’s no room for men. It’s also a profession that provides a secure job, career prospects and salary. In fact, some organisations are actively encouraging men to consider a career in nursing by offering scholarships, training, and awards. However, there’s still a need to change the perceptions that men have of nursing. A good example is Johnson & Johnson, which is incredibly supportive of men in nursing.
Increased demand for project managers
As Australia continues to recover from the impact of the COVID pandemic, there is an increased demand for project managers in the country. Managing a project requires the expertise and experience to handle multiple stakeholders, deal with budgets, and meet objectives and targets. It also requires the ability to manage and motivate a team. Project managers are responsible for defining the scope and timeline of a project. They must be able to keep a project on schedule and within budget, and be able to analyse data associated with a project.
The demands of this role will be more demanding than ever, and will require strong mental fortitude. Many project managers will have to balance multiple responsibilities, budgets, employees, and stakeholders, as well as manage remote working environments. This is why it is so important to ensure that you have the confidence and knowledge to take on a leadership role in the project management field. Upskilling and obtaining certifications is a great way to improve your confidence and get the education and skills you need to succeed.
