MADRID – Colombian pop music star Shakira and her partner, Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, are splitting up, the two said in a statement released on Saturday.
“We regret our decision to separate,” the two said in a statement released by Shakira. “For the sake of our children, which is our priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding. ”
Shakira, 45, met a Barcelona defender while announcing her 2010 World Cup song, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).” The couple has two children, Sasha and Milan.
