Dragon (Jane Fonda), Bob (Simon Pegg) and Sam Greenfield (Eva Noblezada) appear in the immersive program from “Luck,” which airs for the first time around the world on Apple TV + on August 5, 2022.
The trailer for Luck follows Sam Greenfield, the most unfortunate man in the world. The first trailer dropped Wednesday and features an animated feature, from Apple Original Films and the first to be produced by Skydance Animation.
Everything about Sam’s day (which was voiced by Eva Noblezada) doesn’t go well until she finds a lucky coin that changes things — even accidentally throwing it away in the toilet. You can see that the lucky pen is connected to a mysterious black cat named Bob, mentioned by Simon Pegg, who follows it in the Land of Luck, like a full-time Reuben Goldberg machine where everything goes well – but people are not allowed. In the south of the two-dimensional world is where all the misfortunes are sent.
“A very small amount of misfortune could shut down all our work,” warns the CEO of Good Luck, a dragon spoken of by Jane Fonda.
Sam intends to bring good luck back to his world through his best friend. But along the way, chaos ensues as he meets Pegg’s Bob and encounters magical creatures including the humorous Captain, cited by Whooopi Goldberg; an eccentric unicorn named Jeff (Flula Borg); and a useful leprechaun named Gerry (Colin O’Donoghue). Suddenly, Sam’s unconsciousness creates a catastrophe as the “lucky connection is cut off” and out.
Luckily assisted by Peggy Holmes, an Emmy winner whose credits include Secret Wing and Pirate Fairy; and written by Kiel Murray (Cars). John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and David Eisenmann produced the movie, which began in Aug. 5 on Apple TV +.
A few movie clips were first screened last month at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
