The actor has already spoken out against the Brazilian president on several occasions, but the main reason revolves around the Amazon. In 2019, Bolsonaro accused Leonardo DiCaprio of financing forest fires, without providing evidence.
Soon after, the Hollywood star countered the comment and criticized the Brazilian Chief Executive. “Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro is under international pressure to curb the fires, but he has publicly doubted them in the past, blaming opponents and indigenous communities,” he said.
Since then, DiCaprio has been raising the issue on social media. Recently, the actor even talked to Anitta about the case and asked young Brazilians to vote to save the Amazon.

Mark Ruffalo

Another actor to comment on Bolsonaro was the interpreter of Hulk, Mark Ruffalo. Like his colleague, he shared a video of the Articulation of the Indigenous Peoples of Brazil. “Which side are you on, the Amazon or Bolsonaro? The longer we wait, the more the Amazon will be destroyed and the effects will be irreversible on our climate,” he wrote.

“Some Brazilian fans and other people were annoyed that I was using my voice to talk about the country’s politics, some of them said, ‘you’re not even from Brazil, why are you talking about this?’ with my fans and with everything that is happening around the world,” he said, in an interview with Billboard.
