Hatch relinquishes controversial lead less than three years after its launch; start-stop system is the only change in mechanics

Less than three years after the launch of the current generation , the new Hyundai HB20 debuts a new look in the 2023 line. Produced in Piracicaba (SP), the compact hatch arrives in stores with radical changes in the front and rear – which were critical points in the previous restyling.

The new face of the HB20 bets on horizontal lines, in an arrangement similar to that of the Volkswagen Polo, which should change later this year . Before, the hatch had triangular-shaped headlights and a large “mouth” positioned just below, following to the bumper. In line 2023, the headlights are rectangular, level at the height of the first section of the split grille. The arrows were positioned next to the fog lights.

At the rear, Hyundai has installed new interconnected taillights, but only the ends are illuminated. The trunk lid cutout has changed, as has the rear bumper, which also receives turn signals.

Little has changed in the HB20 ‘s silhouette , which only received new 16-inch diamond-finished alloy wheels on the more expensive version. The other configurations are offered with 15-inch wheels.

Hyundai took advantage of the change to incorporate the nomenclature of the Crete versions. In the 2023 line, the HB20 will be sold in Sense , Comfort and Limited configurations , with a 1.0-liter aspirated engine with 80 hp and 10.2 kgfm of torque, and a five-speed manual gearbox; and Comfort , Platinum and Platinum Plus , with a 1.0-litre turbo engine with 120 hp and 17.5 kgfm of torque, and manual or automatic transmission, both with six gears.
